A Project Proposal by ngacook

At last... A project proposal. After trying out some ideas and utterly hating them, I have decided to do something radical, and completely not what I typically shoot. Documentary. Specifically, a school. I think it would be interesting to document the happenings on a day to day basis of a classroom.

It is interesting, we all attend school, yet what we remember is not the day to day stuff. It's the rallies and "yearbook" moments that stick in our minds. This is a shared experience among every single person in the country. This is not new to anyone. Yet, each of us only saw what was happening from our own eyes. What will it be like looking at a setting that is well recognized and familiar, yet different and new from at the same time? Rather then having the bias of a child, the images will of the bias of an adult.

Two things are apparent in this proposal:

1. Color. Classrooms are full of it and I would argue that color tells much about the teacher and students that inhabit the classroom. Shooting in B&W I will have to be very aware of this and find other ways to capture the essence of the room and people

2. Documentary. Not something I particularly enjoy, it's fast paced, and unpredictable. It is something I want to improve on, yes, but this will certainly make me think. I don't want to manipulate the scene in any way. i.e. Objects, people, posing... Be it in the moment or post. So I am constraining my self to that.

Labor Day Week End (Film Edition) by ngacook

Ok– I finally went ahead and scanned my film in. Some pictures overlap with the digital ones I posted already, but they are all film.

To start–  I worked both Friday and Saturday night. I did very little as a result.

Sunday– When most things happen for me. I started with a bike ride. The first image, of some of my gear could have been better composed. While not perfect, I like the concept I was getting working on.

As usual, I made up for all the time I didn't give my animals during the week. This is just one, Rosie, with her friendly shark.

I organized film, and made sure the negative titles match with their lightroom counterparts.

I also enjoyed an It's-It, while watching the season  finale of Mythbusters.

To end the the day. My cousin decided it would be nice to ride her electric scooter. Her brother however thought it would be fun to. She disapproved... The joys of being an only child were only made clearer!

I will be scanning my negatives soon. Until then I have these to show for my weekend. Not much was done.

Played with the animals.

Organized Negatives.

 Rode my bike.

It's - It. Simply the best. Best enjoyed while watching Mythbusters.
