Ocean
About
Ocean represents how I see the conversation on how we interact with our blue planet. The process of physically going out and photographing the ocean, creating a negative and finally printing it as a cyanotype is methodical. I am allowed to experience the ocean first hand while taking the photos and then he begins the contemplative steps of printing the image through a process that holds as much symbolic meaning for me as it does with how humans interact with the ocean. The UV light that exposes the prints is also the same light that warms the planet because of our large carbon footprint. The large quantities of water used to develop the print is a personal mark on the environment left by the artist. I hope to make aware and prompt new ideas on how we can restore a balance between us and the ocean.
